This project will provide snacks as positive reinforcement for students in the Special Education program who demonstrate positive behavior, academic effort, and progress toward their individual goals. The reward system is designed to increase student motivation, engagement, and participation while recognizing consistent hard work and achievement. Providing small incentives helps create a positive learning environment where students feel valued and encouraged to continue making progress. The project also supports the development of responsibility, perseverance, and a growth mindset by celebrating student success.
The purpose of this project is to address the need for increased motivation, engagement, and positive reinforcement among students receiving Special Education services. Many students in the Special Education program work hard each day to overcome academic, behavioral, and personal challenges while working toward their individual goals outlined in their IEPs. Providing meaningful incentives, such as snacks, will help recognize student effort, encourage positive behaviors, and reinforce academic growth and achievement.
The target population for this project includes students receiving Special Education services at our campus. Approximately 100 students will benefit from this program throughout the 2026–2027 school year. Current campus observations, classroom data, progress monitoring results, and student feedback indicate a need for additional positive reinforcement strategies to increase student participation, confidence, and perseverance. While students receive support through individualized instruction and interventions, additional incentives will help create a stronger connection between student effort and success.
At the present time, many students do not have consistent access to rewards that recognize their accomplishments and progress. This project will provide a structured incentive system that celebrates academic improvement, positive decision-making, attendance, and personal growth. By addressing this need, the program will help create a more encouraging and supportive environment where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered to continue working toward success.
This project will implement a positive reinforcement incentive program designed to improve student motivation, engagement, and academic success among students receiving Special Education services at Crosby High School. The goal of the program is to provide students with meaningful recognition for their hard work, academic growth, positive behavior, attendance, and progress toward individual IEP goals. Grant funds will be used to purchase snacks and reward materials that will be provided to students as they meet identified academic, behavioral, and personal growth goals throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
The SMART objective for this project is that by the end of the 2026–2027 school year, 100% of participating Special Education students will have opportunities to earn positive incentives based on measurable growth, classroom participation, completion of assignments, improved behavior, and progress toward individualized goals. Teachers will track student progress through classroom data, IEP progress monitoring, formative assessments, and behavior records to ensure that rewards are connected to student achievement and growth. This project will serve approximately 100 students at Crosby High School and will take place within classrooms, intervention settings, and designated student support areas across the campus.
Grant funds will allow teachers and staff to create a consistent reward system that encourages students to take ownership of their learning and recognize the value of persistence and effort. Students will participate in goal-setting activities where they understand the expectations needed to earn rewards, allowing them to develop responsibility, self-advocacy, and a growth mindset.
