The Crosby High School Football Department respectfully requests $4,650 from the Crosby Education Foundation to establish the PlayerData Student Performance & Sports Science Initiative, an innovative educational program that integrates wearable technology, sports science, and data analytics into the learning experiences of Crosby High School students.
The initiative will utilize PlayerData GPS wearable technology to transform athletics into a hands-on STEM learning environment where students collect, interpret, and apply real-world performance data. Through this process, students will develop critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and data literacy skills while learning how technology can improve personal wellness, athletic performance, and injury prevention.
Funding will provide 25 PlayerData Air Units, allowing more than 100 student-athletes to benefit through equipment rotation during practices, workouts, and competitions.

Football is one of the most physically demanding extracurricular activities offered at Crosby High School. Throughout the year, students participate in offseason conditioning, summer strength programs, preseason training camps, and competitive athletics that place significant physical demands on their bodies.
Currently, workload management relies heavily on observation and coaching experience. Although effective, these methods cannot objectively measure each student's physical workload or recovery needs.
The PlayerData Athlete Monitoring System provides measurable performance metrics that allow both students and coaches to better understand how the body responds to exercise while making informed decisions that prioritize student safety and long-term development.
This initiative complements Crosby ISD's existing commitment to student wellness and enhances safety practices by providing objective workload data alongside the University Interscholastic League's required Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) monitoring procedures.

Students will graduate with experience using the same technology trusted by collegiate athletic programs, professional sports organizations, military performance programs, and sports science laboratories.
More importantly, students will develop transferable skills in technology, critical thinking, communication, goal setting, and personal accountability that extend well beyond athletics.
