The CMS Coffee Cart project is designed to support our vocational students acquire soft skills with serving teachers coffee during their class. This project will also set them up for success by practicing "hard skills" such as food safety, coffee preparation, job planning (taking orders submitted via a Google form) ~ supplies needed, time management when delivering the coffee to each order and "money exchange" (we are planning on rewarding teachers with Cougar BUCKS for supporting the campus and allowing students to practice money skills/computations).
As a growing campus, this project is designed to support both student learning and campus culture in a safe learning environment where students are able to learn both hard and soft skills needing in the vocational setting. This opportunity will support teacher moral by providing the admin team to reward positive culture and actions with Cougar BUCKS while students receive an encouraging environment in which to practice and learn skills needed to apply for future employment opportunites and team work.
The students enrolled in this vocational setting require additional support in learning job/vocational skills that serve as a base for employment opportunities as they transition into high school next year and adulthood. The added benefit of this project is that the whole campus is able to benefit and help these student practice soft skills in customer service and working on a team. Hards skills they will experience include "Cougar Bucks" money exchange, math skills, accountability, supply checks/inventory and tracking. All of these skills are best learned in a "real-world" setting, yet the school environment will provide the opportunity to learn from their mistakes, build confidence and explore job skills where they excel or like and even ones they may not enjoy but are necessary. This project enriches multiple district philosophies. We have reached out to the admin team for ideas, support for ongoing needs that will present themselves and opportunities to expand student learning while providing job training in the school setting for life long learning opportunities.
