I created a fantastic Jump Rope Unit for my PE classes. I found a fun way to incorporate the jump rope skills they learn in class while teaching the importance of incorporating cardiovascular endurance as part of a healthy lifestyle. However, I am in need of more jump ropes. I have used the same ropes that were purchased for PE 16 years ago. And now I teach KINDER! WOW! So, not only do I need new ropes so each student will have one, but also, I need new ropes to fit my littles.
Currently, I don't have enough jump ropes for each student in my class. The kids have to share. Also, recently Kindergarten classes were added to my school and Specials schedule. I don't have any ropes that these littles can use. If my grant is funded, every student in my school will benefit. Jumping rope is a great cardiovascular workout that my kids love! We just need the ropes!
For years I have made the current situation work, but I feel like my kids deserve new ropes to use in PE. I reward kids for reaching goals within the Jump Rope Unit. This is an important TEK for PE and it is a struggle for many students to achieve. I use segmented ropes so that they can hear the rope hit the ground before they jump. Many of the ropes we currently use have broken segment pieces and makes it difficult to hear it hit the floor. Kids will argue and fight to get the few good ropes I have available. I use these ropes for my after school club and for Ninja Night to reward students success. This versatile rack works with any type of jump rope and is designed to help students select the perfect length rope. A series of staggered hooks separate ropes by size, indicating to students which one is the perfect fit. Includes 60 segmented or licorice jump ropes. The MeasureUp Jump Rope Rack would allow my students to find the appropriate rope in seconds. All they have to do is stand next to the rack and find the appropriate holder that lines up with their sternum. Large numbers on the rack also identify the length of the rope, making it even easier to select a jump rope. The rack holds more than 100 ropes ranging from 6’L-10’L. This is just what we need to be successful in PE!
