Robotics on the Rise - Tech Club - Tammy Werner Image
Look out for the launch Robotics on the Rise at CES! A Tech club for 3-5th graders where they will be introduced to the world of robotics and coding. STEM and Computer Science education aren’t just important for the future—they’re essential. And they should be available to every kid, everywhere. CoderZ makes that possible. Kids say “hooray!” because this platform turns coding into a gamified, hands-on experience, using virtual robots to bring lessons to life. It’s easy to learn, easy to teach, and built to break barriers—whether those barriers are gender bias, economic hurdles, or outdated classroom methods.
The best teaching tools don’t just transfer knowledge; they spark curiosity. Learning about robots is awesome—but learning like a robot isn’t. That’s why all kids deserve tools that inspire them to explore, question, and create.
CoderZ has designed every element around the four C’s of modern education: Critical thinking. Collaboration. Creativity. Communication. These aren’t just skills for the classroom—they’re skills for life. By putting powerful, accessible STEM tools in every student’s hands, we’re helping to build a future where every child can unlock their full potential.

Why Robotics and Coding Matter: The world students are growing up in is driven by technology, yet too many kids still graduate without the skills—or the confidence—to thrive in that reality. Robotics and coding aren’t just “extra” subjects; they address critical gaps in today’s education system: 1. Closing the STEM Skills Gap. Technology touches nearly every career, but there’s a shortage of workers who can design, program, and innovate with it. Introducing coding and robotics early helps students develop the technical literacy they’ll need for the jobs of tomorrow—many of which don’t even exist yet. 2. Breaking Down Barriers to Opportunity. Historically, access to STEM has been uneven. Gender biases, socio-economic limitations, and outdated teaching methods leave too many kids—especially girls and underrepresented minorities—behind. Robotics and coding platforms like CoderZ level the playing field by making STEM engaging, accessible, and equitable for all learners. 3. Building Essential Life Skills Robotics isn’t just about robots, and coding isn’t just about syntax. Both disciplines strengthen the “4 Cs” of education:
Critical Thinking – learning to analyze problems and find solutions, Collaboration – working in teams to plan, test, and refine ideas, Creativity – thinking beyond the obvious to design something new. These skills are transferable to every subject and every future path.
4. Reaching Every Kind of Learner Traditional classroom methods don’t always connect with students who need a different way in. Robotics and coding are hands-on, interactive, and gamified—turning learning into something kids want to do. This approach engages reluctant learners, sparks curiosity, and gives every student a chance to succeed. 5. Preparing Kids for a Digital World From smart devices to AI, technology is the language of our time. By giving students early experience with coding and robotics, we’re not just teaching them to “use” technology—we’re empowering them to create it, understand it, and shape how it’s used in the future.

My project will bring CoderZ—a virtual robotics and coding platform—to every Crosby ISD elementary campus, giving 3rd–5th graders an engaging, gamified way to learn coding and robotics while building essential life skills. By the end of year one, Robotics on the Rise club members at Crosby elementary will have coded a robot, solved real challenges, and discovered their ability to create with technology. This project isn’t just about coding—it’s about opening doors to curiosity, confidence, and the future.
