Books in Bloom: Early Literacy for All - Carol Sagastegui, Sabrina Jordan, Aleisha Blanchard, Adriana Ramirez Image
As a collaborative team, we selected specific grade-level appropriate texts, that will help students meet Crosby ISD's DRA leveled reading expectation. These texts will help bridge the gap between home and school reading requirements. Providing students with the opportunity to take books home, fostering the connections between school and home experiences.

Early literacy is a key predictor of lifelong academic success. In kindergarten, students begin their journey from learning to read to reading to learn. We are seeking to help students bloom into life-long readers by adding engaging guided reading books necessary to meet students at their individual reading levels. This proposal seeks funding to build a diverse, leveled guided reading library that will support differentiated small-group instruction, foster a love for reading, and improve foundational literacy skill among our youngest learners.

This project supports district literacy goals, including improving reading fluency and comprehension by the end of kindergarten. With approximately 88 students among a collective team. Our goal is to introduce new age-appropriate titles that will expand their individual learning goals. Many of these students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds and experience life differently. With titles ranging from "In my Neighborhood" to "Animals in Nature", we as educators can assist with broadening their knowledge through text.
