Zearn Math Program - Rhonda Barrett, Ashlea Brown Image
Zearn is an interactive math program that helps review concepts taught in the classroom. It guides the student through problems and will go back and reteach if they are struggling. Zearn has math concepts for grades kinder through 8th. This program is a great support for teachers, I have used it in my class the past 3 years and absolutely love it.

Zearn will be a helpful tool for all math students at NES. Zearn has the math curriculum from kindergarten- 8th grade. I was able to differentiate learning in my classroom during independent time because of this feature. I would put my struggling learners on lower grade level material to help fill gaps and I would challenge my high achievers by moving them to more challenging work. The program is easy for the students to navigate and helps guide them through problems when they are struggling. This makes it a good small group station because students are able to be successful with out needing teacher assistance. In my experience, my students that used Zearn the most were my most successful math students. One student went from high approaches on STAAR to master’s this year. I believe Zearn had a big part in her growth because she was my top user. According, to the Zearn Math Quasi-Experimental Efficacy Study, Researchers found that "Zearn usage increased STAAR performance levels; 62% of the lowest scoring students moved up at least one level when using the platform consistently". Overall, I believe Zearn will help our students maintain skills as well as make growth throughout the year.

I use Zearn as a station when I have small groups or for early finishers to practice previous math skills. Zearn is also used as a review in my class. The math curriculum moves extremely fast and sometimes we must move on before all students completely understand material. I found that Zearn is a great way for them to review and practice something I previously taught. Zearn is also a great tool to use for absent students. It has videos for the student to watch, and they can practice problems at home. This way the student doesn't get too far behind. This grant would provide an account for each student at NES from first-fifth grade.
