The Coleen Walker Relays is a special event that allows students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in activities that develop and improve physical fitness, motor skills, and self-confidence. Crosby ISD and Huffman ISD join forces each year to put on this event and this year Crosby will be hosting.
The Coleen Walker Relays provides opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in track and field activities, as well as other events that their non-disabled peers regularly participate in throughout the year. Not only does this event meet the needs of students with disabilities, it also requires many student volunteer to assist each student and man the different stations which promotes inclusivity within our district.
Students will work on physical and social goals in their special education classes throughout the school year in order to generalize the skill during the relays in the spring, which will be held at Crosby stadium. this event will include over 300 life skills students as well as numerous student volunteers.
