This project will significantly improve the appearance of the athletic entrance with action graphics from each of our sports as well as enhance security with a "see out only" effect for the area just inside those windows. It will also include two All-State boards to acknowledge outstanding performances. One board is for those selected to All-State teams for each sport. The other is for those who are selected to the THSCA Academic All-State Team each year. 

This project will address the need to drive participation in athletics at CHS. This will be achieved by creating inspirational images of athletic accomplishments at our school. This covers a large portion of our student population across all demographics. To my knowledge, most of the images that are currently displayed were installed when the school opened and are dated. I believe our windows and walls are a canvas that our kids here can be celebrated on. With around 500 kids in athletics, creating that sense of pride will be directly linked to them being able to answer the question of what kind of legacy they left at CHS and how important it was to represent our school. 

This project is to create a culture in which athletics and sports celebrate the accomplishments and hard work that athletes put into representing our school at a high level. It includes motivation to achieve success in the classroom as well supporting our mission to create student-athletes at Crosby High School. There have been several impactful studies as to the relationship between athletics and academics, self-esteem, mental and physical health, not to mention post-educational endeavors. One such study from the University of Chicago Press titled "School Sports Participation and Academic Achievement in Middle and High School" is worth noting when considering the impact athletics can have on students and their performance in the classroom.
