Maneuvering Minds with Math Stations - Pamela Broussard & Mariah Lewis Image
Math stations are in different places in the classroom where students work on different tasks simultaneously. During math stations students do not rotate to different stations. The teacher carefully plans which students will visit which stations and when based on the academic needs of each student.

Many students struggle with math. Math learning centers are like mini-classrooms you can set up around the room. These stations help students clarify, solidify, and stretch their learning in small groups with active, hands-on activities. Math stations are not only fun, but also extend the knowledge of students. Stations show them new ways of thinking about math.

To increase student math scores in my classroom, I plan to use math stations during my math academic time. Math stations will enable students to practice the skills they have learned throughout their math lessons such as counting, number identification, shape and pattern recognition, and more. Math improves problem solving skills. Math develops flexible thinking and creativity. Math improves financial literacy. Math may even open up many different future career paths for students. Math stations also allow students to recognize their own achievements as they can see physical results with their own eyes.
