This grant will give me over 300 guided reading books. I will use these books during small group reading instruction. Students will also be taking these books home to practice and read with their parents. They are very durable and contain high-frequency words that are perfect for beginning readers. My target population is all of my students. They are all beginning readers and attend a Title 1 school. This will be their initial exposure to intense reading instruction. This is a crucial and vital time in their reading development. They need books for small group instruction and books that can be taken home for practice and reading with parents. These books are specifically designed with familiar and easily decodable high frequency words to target beginning readers. My students need a strong reading foundation! 

I will be dividing my students up into small groups based on data. I will group them based on their current phonics and reading skills. This will help me to target their specific reading needs. I will plan my small group reading instruction and assign them specific reading books that will foster a strong reading foundation. My grant is comprised of books that are on two different levels, so that I can assign students the books that will fit their specific level and needs. Our campus goal is to produce readers! Teaching students to read is our main and primary goal! These books are specifically designed with decodable words and high frequency words that are vital for beginning readers. They are also fiction books. This gives my students a chance to build comprehension skills, such as retelling a story and identifying story elements, such as character, setting, and plot. I will be able to ask them comprehension questions after we read the story. I am excited that these books are of high quality and durable, because my students will be taking them home and practicing reading with their parents.
