The opportunity to attend etiquette sessions would be given to 15 third through fifth grade learners. After the final session, learners will be able to use the tools that they've earned for the end of the year manners banquet. Learners will have an opportunity to use and showcase the skills that they've learned. The grant will fund dress shirts for male learners and dresses for the female learners, decorations, food, and items to help the manners sessions and banquet.

According to the latest census, 77.2 percent of Crosby's population are high school graduates, but 14.5 percent have a bachelors degree or higher. 46 out of 93 Crosby businesses are owned by men, and the number of minority owned businesses and women owned businesses were suppressed due to not meeting the census publication requirements.

From this data, a need for social skills development, confidence building, self-discipline, cultural awareness, and professional preparation can be an inferred need for the youth of Crosby as they are our future leaders. This project will be geared specifically towards 3rd through 5th grade boys and girls of various cultural backgrounds. Learners will go through courses that will cultivate their leadership abilities to become more courteous, considerate, and socially competent individuals that will benefit their personal and professional lives. These tools can increase academic success and educational longevity to increase the rate of Crosby residents that have a bachelor degree or higher.

As an educator, I understand that young leaders have dreams that they may not yet have established tools for yet. For Cougars Pave New Paths, 20 3rd through 5th graders will be able to attend etiquette sessions and an etiquette banquet. Throughout the course of 5 sessions that will take place in my classroom, the learners will be able to:
- utilize basic manners
- demonstrate table and dining etiquette
- communicate effectively
- develop cultural sensitivity and respect others' customs and traditions
In conclusion of the etiquette sessions, learners will attend an etiquette banquet, where they will utilize the skills learned to their parents. The learners will serve their parents, write letters of gratitude to one teacher and one parent. Grant funded decor will be used for the tables. Grant funded dress attire for the boys and girls will be worn at the banquet. Food and drinks will be served from Italiano's catering in Atascocita. This will be an event of honor and pride.
With these tools of empowerment, learners will show academic progress throughout the school year, and educational longevity.
In alignment with the district mission, through this project learners will be responsible citizens that are able to apply their social skills in any life setting as leaders within our district and community.

I want to help build a community of competent men and women that are confident, courteous, and able to excel in pursuit of their goals.
