Chemistry: It's Hot and Cold by Melissa Gable - CHS Image
In chemistry, we do labs frequently. These bluetooth temperature probes will allow our students to graph lab temperature data directly to their student iPad. The probes will be used by both Honors Chemistry and Level Chemistry classes in many labs throughout the year.

Please consider helping replace our old temperature probes! My students are Honors and Level chemistry students, and they often need to graph temperature readings in the lab. To make the course relevant to college-level chemistry courses, we use probeware when possible. The set we currently use are about 10 years old. They are broken and don't often connect to the student iPads.

These Vernier Go Direct Temperature Probes are read through Bluetooth on the student iPads. They will allow students to see trends in temperature and phase changes in approximately 10 labs over the school year.

Science courses are mandated by the state TEKS to be 40% lab based. Chemistry labs often require the use of measuring temperate changes. By using graphing with the data collection, it allows the students to easily see the changes being made over time, which is represented in the math concepts we cover in the non-lab chemistry content. All science teachers will have access to these temperature probes, but will primarily be used by the Honors Chemistry and AP Chemistry teachers.
